  • About Acqua
    Opened in 2009 by a group of close friends, Acqua is comfortably located on the Western shore of White Bear Lake and offers seating in three dining rooms, on either of our sheltered decks overlooking the marina, the spacious lakeside patio or up at our bar. Our menu is Italian driven and Acqua Restaurant always strives to source out the highest quality local ingredients. Our restaurant focuses on maintaining a warm, clean and comfortable atmosphere while offering knowledgeable and attentive service that cares. We are consistently ranked by users of Opentable among the top 100 restaurants in the country for both our food and service and we focus our energy everyday on continuing to operate at this level. We love sharing our passion with our guests and are truly grateful for the opportunity to welcome you into our beautiful restaurant on the lake.
    About the Owners
    Acqua Restaurant and Bar was opened by a group of friends. As longtime students of the hospitality industy, we have each dedicated our careers to constant growth and learning in hopes of someday fulfilling our dreams of opening our own restaurant. Our paths conveniently crossed at the right moment and Acqua has finally become a reality. We are all extremely excited to showcase our passion in such a beautiful location and to such a warm community.
    Daron Close (General Manager) is a graduate of Roseville High School and has a degree in Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Management from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Since 1997, Daron has enjoyed working in over 20 restaurants in a constant search of a better understanding of the hospitality industry.
    Chris Whalen (Executive Chef) is a graduate of O'Gorman High School in Sioux Falls, SD and has a culinary degree from the Culinary Institute of America. He has worked in many kitchens including Brown Palace Hotel in Denver, the Inn of the Anisazi in Sante Fe, Chez Daniel, Fhima's and Campiello in Uptown.

    Due to the high demand as well as the fluctuation in weather, we do not take any reservations for our outdoor dining areas. Our outdoor seating is sat on a first-come first-seat basis. However, with our five larger tables outside on our deck and patio, groups of 6 or more with existing inside dinner reservations will be given priority seating.
